4 Members of Harwich Dovercourt & Parkeston Swimming Club (HDPSC) attended the Jack Petchey Awards Night at The Columbine Centre, Walton on The Naze. The awards celebrate young people between 11-25 years old from participating Schools and non profitable clubs & groups. The awards are to inspire and motivate young people in Essex and London.
This is the first time HDPSC participated in the awards since joining late last year. Each award winner is given £300 to spend on behalf of the swimming club. Isabelle Tye, Eleanor Newman, Barney Weston, Oliver Pickersgill were the lucky winners voted by members of the swimming club. They were presented with a medallion by special guests Councillor Gary Scott (Chairman Of TDC) & Councillor Dan Casey (Vice Chairman Of TDC)
Isabelle Tye spent her £300 on hiring Colchester Leisure World. This event was enjoyed by almost 100 members of the swimming club. The club had exclusive hire of the facilities for 1.5 hours.
Eleanor Newman and Barney Weston have combined their £300 to hire 3 lanes of the London Aquatics Centre along with subsidised coach hire. After the swim there will be time for shopping at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford. This event takes place on 26th July 2023. More details can be found on the events page. This will be a great for our swimmers to train in a 50m pool.
Oliver Pickersgill is hoping to spend his money on an Inspirational Speaker from the Dame Kelly Holmes Foundation. This event is still in the early planning stages, more information will follow. Please keep an eye on our events, and facebook pages.
